Oh Christmas Tree Oh Christmas Tree

I can't believe there is only 3 more days until Christmas morning. The house looks very festive this year. For Nick's 1st Christmas Michael picked out the biggest tree we have ever had, 9ft. It took us almost a week to find time too decorate the tree but once we had time we put on my favorite movie ever ( ELF) and had a blast. We also bought embroidered matching stockings. Nick's stocking actually is an elf foot. Michael put up some of his decorations outside. Sorry Dan and Joe no camel this year!!!!
Nicholas turned 4 months yesterday. Since he has been intently watching us eat for the past couple of weeks we decided to give him some delicious rice cereal the other day. He was very confused with the whole thing. He swallowed some, spit some out, played with the spoon, and made some great faces. We have to try it again!!!

Where Does The Time Go!

I think I missed a couple of weeks of updates. This time of year is always so busy, I thought I would have more time to bake cookies and shop since I am home with Nicholas. I barely have time to clean the house never mind anything else.
Lets see, where to start. Oh, Michael, Nicholas, and I attended his soccer banquet dinner right before Thanksgiving. Michael had fun seeing the guys one last time together. Since I didn't do sports in high school I was not quit sure what to expect. The food was horrible but everything else was fun. The kids gave Michael and I gifts, there was a long speech from the assistant coach and then an even longer speech from Michael, the varsity letters were given out, and then a couple of individual awards. The moms did a great job putting together the whole event.




















Next was Thanksgiving. Nicholas had an adorable out fit to wear from the Wild Turkey and he finally was able to meet his Great Grandma Gizzo. Nick is strong enough know to hold his head up so we put him in his exersaucer and high chair. He goes crazy in the exersaucer and we haven't even put batteries in it yet. He can spin himself around and play with the toy.





I started going to a baby-talk group which is making me feel more like a human and not just a food source. There is actually a couple of the mothers there who were in my child birthing classes which is nice. The group is about 15 moms, all girl babies except for 4. Of course Nicholas is the best looking there!!!! It been great because I can ask other moms or the lactation nurse for advise while Nicholas talks to the other babies. He has a blast looking around at everything going on. I also get to weigh him every week which is pretty exciting. As of yesterday he is 14lbs and 9oz with a diaper on. Next week we are having a party, let the unhealthy eating begin!!!!!

Santa Clause Has Come to Town

Nicholas had his first meeting with Santa Clause on Friday. Yes, I am going to be one of those parents who is going to torture my child every holiday season by making him sit on a total strangers lap for my enjoyment!!!! I figured that this may be the only picture for a couple of years that I might be able to get with Nicholas not crying while with Santa. Santa's elf's are pretty hi-tech, instead of buying 1 picture for some ridiculous price they take 3 and put them on one of those memory sticks ( I think they are called flash somethings.)

I can't wait for the holidays this year. I have almost all my shopping done. At this point what ever I haven't gotten is going to have to be ordered online. There is no way I am going to battle through crowds or pick through trashed stores.

Nicholas' Big Week

Saturday November 8th was Nicholas' Christening. It actually was the first party that Michael and I have thrown by ourselves. I really waited until the last minute to do everything (like the Monday before) which made things a little more hectic then they needed to be. I shopped for party deco on Monday, called the caterer on Tuesday, and on Wednesday Nicholas got to meet Catherine and Sophia while Momma went to a meeting. The Nick had a lot of fun with the girls.

For some reason on Thursday I decided to try Nick's suit on. I couldn't believe it! He had actually out grown the suit in 3 weeks. I thought "no big deal, I just go and exchange it for the next size up." Friday was almost a total melt down. Why do store have short suits out?, isn't it Fall time in Connecticut?!!! Needles to say around 6pm on Friday Michael and I had located a suit.
Nicholas was so good all day. He was really having a good time in the church, I think he liked all the attention. Msgr told us that "If he cries during the cleansing he is going to be a saint, if he doesn't then he's going to be the child who runs around the church during mass on Sunday's." So I guess we are going to have to get use to the dirty looks because Nicholas thought it was tubby time and laughed.

It was nice to have had all of the our family with us for Nick's Baptism.

Happy Halloween

Well Nicholas had his 1st Halloween. He was the most delicious slice of pepperoni and pepper pizza. We went to Grammi's house for some trick or treats. I took a chance and left a basket of candy out on the steps. I figured that if any kids walked all the way up the hill they could have all the candy they wanted. Michael and I were shocked to see that there was candy left in the basket when we got home. Hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween, can't wait to see all the pictures!!

Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday we went to see the Great Pumpkin. It was a little bit chilly so we didn't stay very long. Dada was more excited about the tractor then the actually pumpkins. I think Thursday will be our pumpkin carving night. I'll be sure to send pictures of Nick in his Halloween costume and the pumpkin.

I think I had more fun then Nick and Michael, its so much fun taking "baby's 1st" pictures.


I hope Nick doesn't look back at these pictures and think that I enjoyed torturing him!!!

Youth Group

This past Sunday we had a pumpkin carving contest for the Senior Youth Group at church. I have to say that pumpkin carving has come a long way from triangle eyes and a toothless smile, 4 out of the 9 pumpkins carved used stencils. The one that one the contest was actually carved without a stencil, it was Jesus.

As for the seeds, this is the first year I actually didn't burn them. I was under a lot of pressure because a couple of the teens never had eaten a pumpkin seed before. I made the typical salty ones and then I tried to make a cinnamon one ( there was no butter.) Does anyone have a good recipe for pumpkin seeds?

2 Month Birthday

October 21st was Nick's 2 month birthday. Time is starting to go by so quickly! Nick really has a great personality; he is laughing at silly faces, he talks when he is being talked to, and he loves to be held. I don't care what anyone says, how can you not hold your child all the time when he is so cute. Michael seems to think that Nick prefers Dada with a hat ( fun Dada) instead of Dada without a hat. I think Nick prefers Dada when ever he is around. He really isn't that much of a Mama's boy.



































Nick had his 2 month check up the next day. He is 12lbs 1/2 oz and 23 1/4 inches, he is getting so big. He has been in the 50% for the last 2 check-ups (I really don't know what that means so if anyone would like to explain feel free.) I have totally become everything that I used to make fun of; breast feeding in the mall, bringing my mother to Nick's doctors appointments... But I have realized that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks it is what ever is best for your child ( and yourself.)

I hate shots, the very thought of a needle makes me feel sick. I have to say that the worst part of being pregnant wasn't the morning sickness, feeling tired, or not fitting into any clothes. It actually was the amount of blood that you had to have taken. I tend to get nervous and start laughing uncontrollably when it comes to getting blood drawn, the nurses would call me giggles. So the thought of having Nick get so many shots is nerve racking to me. I don't think I could handle it without someone with me, thanks mom!!!
I decided to have some of his shots broken up into different visits. I really don't know what is worse, getting 4 shots at one visit or getting shots twice in one month. Nick was so unhappy for 2 days after his last visit and know he has to go back for more on November 5th. Does anyone have any tips about the doctors? I had gotten a book about vaccines from a great friend (thanks Sarah) and the more I read the more doubtful I am about getting some of the shots. I don't really understand why kids have to get the Varicella vaccine. I let the doctor give Nick the Roto Virus vaccine but the more I think about it the worse I feel about him getting it.

Nicholas was born August 21st, 2008 at 1:35 am. He was 6lb 13oz and 19 3/4 inches. I was completely shocked at how tiny he was, I couldn't imagin having to push out a child any bigger. He came out looking just like a Gizzo; lots of dark hair, olive skin, and mystery eyes.

By his first month doctors visit Nicholas was 9lb 9oz and 22 inches. So appairently he didn't want to be little. He had lost some hair, his skin started to look pal, and his eyes started to look blue ( I'm praying.)

I have to say that no matter how much I read or what kind of classes I had taken I didn't know a single thing to do when Nicholas cried. Looking things up actually started to make me crazy!!!
I started to realize that trail and error was the best way to learn, along with advise from grammy and nana.
